Since the start of the Road Management and Conservation Service, our capacity for innovation has fostered the introduction of new technologies in the realm of pavement measurements and road management. In the early years of GEOCISA, the LaCroix deflectograph and the falling weight deflectometers were introduced in Spain for the assessment of the structural capacity of road surfaces, as well as the SCRIM for the skid resistance measurements. We have also introduced in-house developments, such as the geometric measurements vehicles for video asset inventories, texture profiles and a road surface noise analyser. For the purpose of offering our clients top-quality services based on cutting-edge state-of-the-art technology, GEOCISA continues to maintain an active policy in the field of Research, Development and Innovation (R&D+i). For this purpose, the Road Management and Conservation Service, with the support of the GEOCISA R&D+i service, is taking part in various projects in cooperation with other companies which are experts in their sectors and well-known research centres. Many of these projects are supported by the different Government Agencies at the regional, national and/or European level by means of grants or loans. A summary of the most outstanding recent projects is provided in the following sections. As of 2009 GEOCISA has had an R&D+i Management System certified by the Spanish Association for Standardisation and Certification (AENOR).
